About Kamatuuran Kali

Kamatuuran Kali is a school of martial art. It's origins are in the Filipino martial art of Kali. While it is a weapons-based system it also utilizes open-hand techniques.

Practitioners do not wear uniforms. They generally do not compete in competitions as they practice for combat, not sport. There are three categories that practitioners fall into: Tuhan (Master), Guro/a (Teacher), and student.

Much of what is practiced today by our school is unrecognizable by our cousins in other Kali organizations. As is the way with any style, if it does not change, its effectiveness decreases. As such, the style has evolved to anticipate new possibilities and accommodate a variety of situations. Standard Kali as practiced by Grandmaster Largusa remains the building block.

Please take a moment to read this message from Grandmaster Largusa regarding the Kamatuuran School of Kali.

About Guro Genesis

My full name is Genesis Augustine Lodise. I have taken Kali instruction from Gura Michelle Bautista since October of 2002 and the school's founder, Tuhan Joseph T. Olivia Arriola since December 2004. On July 15th, 2006 I was promoted to Guro.

Since being promoted to Guro requests have come for me to begin teaching. After having given this idea a good deal of consideration, I have decided to take students. My primary reason for teaching is to increase my proficiency and appreciation of the Standard Kali that is the foundation of our school.

The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi
The Book of Family Traditions on the Art of War by Yagyu Munenori
The Roman Soldier by H.E.L. Mellersh
